Student Safety is Our Highest Priority

The safety and well-being of every participant is the foundation of the AIHC program. Extensive planning takes place long before students arrive for the first day.                                          

Safety measures include:

• A comprehensive student application package has been developed by School District 57 or the Prince George program that includes emergency contact information, medical considerations, allergies, dietary requirements, and required parental permissions. 
• A student interview process that helps ensure participants understand the expectations and commitment required.
• Close collaboration with participating school districts, which support student selection and oversight throughout the program.
• Activities designed, prepared, and supervised by qualified health care professionals, educators, and partner organizations.
• Commercial transportation is provided whenever students travel between program locations during the schedule days. Students are never expected to arrange their own transportation during scheduled program activities.
• Professionally prepared and catered meals and refreshments, with consideration given to identified food allergies and dietary requirements whenever possible.
• Appropriate adult supervision throughout every event.
• All Rotary volunteers and individuals working directly with students maintain current Criminal Record Checks in accordance with provincial requirements.
• Established emergency procedures and communication protocols are in place at every program location.

Every aspect of the program—from transportation and meals to learning activities and supervision—is carefully coordinated to provide a safe, supportive, and enjoyable experience for every participant.

Parents can be assured that the program is built on the combined expertise of Rotary, participating school districts, post-secondary institutions, Northern Health, and our community partners. Together, these organizations have created a program where student safety, learning, and well-being are always the highest priorities.
